GitHub Copilot ranks first because it adds AI to the editor you already use rather than asking you to switch. The plans page lists extensions for VS Code, Visual Studio, Xcode, JetBrains IDEs, Neovim, Eclipse, Zed and SQL Server Management Studio, which no other product here matches. The Free plan gives 2,000 completions a month and limited chat and agent usage. Pro at $10 per user per month adds unlimited completions and next edit suggestions, Copilot in the cloud, code review, model selection and access to the Claude Code and Codex agents, with $15 of monthly credits for agent and chat work. Pro+ at $39 raises included usage and unlocks premium models such as Opus, and Max at $100 targets sustained agent workloads. The trade-off is metering: completions are unlimited on paid plans, but agent sessions consume credits, so developers who lean on long agent runs should watch usage. For completion and chat inside an existing editor, it is the best value we found.

Who it is for
