Support Team $19 per agent per month billed annually; Suite Team $55 and Suite Professional $115 per agent per month billed annually
Quoted from the Zendesk pricing page on November 5, 2026:
For teams that have outgrown a shared inbox and need core support essentials. $19 agent/month paid yearly
Zendesk leads this list because it is the most complete multichannel help desk here. Its Suite Team plan, at $55 per agent per month billed annually, puts email tickets, messaging, live chat and telephony in one agent workspace with omnichannel routing, so a team that answers all three main channels does not need separate tools. AI agents, an AI knowledge base and an action builder sit on the same plan. Suite Professional at $115 adds skills-based routing, an IVR phone tree and AI quick reports, and Enterprise adds approval workflows, a sandbox and custom agent roles. The entry Support Team plan at $19 is a narrower product: email ticketing with routing, automations, macros and prebuilt dashboards, but no chat or phone. Costs also rise with add-ons, since Copilot is $50 per agent and automated resolutions past the included allowance are billed per resolution. For teams with real volume on several channels, the depth justifies the price.
Strengths
- +Covers email, chat, messaging and phone in one product from $55 per agent
- +The 14 day trial opens every Suite Professional feature
- +Clear upgrade path to skills-based routing, approvals and a sandbox
Drawbacks
- −Support Team at $19 is email ticketing only, with no chat or phone
- −Copilot is a $50 per agent add-on on most plans
- −AI agent resolutions beyond the included amount cost extra
- Paid tiers
- Support Team $19, Suite Team $55, Suite Professional $115 per agent per month billed annually
- Monthly billing
- Support Team $25 per agent per month
- Free trial
- 14 days of Suite Professional

- Email, messaging, live chat, phone and social on Suite plans

Growth $19 per agent per month billed annually; Pro $55 and Enterprise $89 per agent per month billed annually
Quoted from the Freshdesk pricing page on November 5, 2026:
Growth $19 /agent/month, billed annually
Freshdesk gives small teams the most complete starting plan on this list. Growth costs $19 per agent per month billed annually and includes ticketing, a shared inbox, internal threads and linked tasks, a customer portal with a knowledge base, out-of-the-box reports, and the Freddy AI Agent with the first 500 sessions included. That covers email-led support and self-service without add-ons. Pro, at $55, is where larger teams land: it adds a multilingual help desk, custom dashboards, intelligent routing, multiple SLA policies and external collaborators. Enterprise at $89 brings skill-based routing, a sandbox and audit logs. The trade-off is that AI help for agents is sold separately, with Freddy AI Copilot at $29 per agent per month, and extra AI agent sessions cost $49 per 100. Phone and chat depth also depends on what you add from the wider Freshworks range. As a ticketing system at a fair price, it is hard to beat.
Strengths
- +The $19 Growth plan already includes a portal, knowledge base and AI agent sessions
- +Pro adds 5,000 external collaborators for escalations
- +The 14 day trial runs on the Enterprise plan
Drawbacks
- −Freddy AI Copilot is a $29 per agent add-on
- −Multiple SLA policies and intelligent routing need Pro at $55
- −Extra AI agent sessions cost $49 per 100
- Paid tiers
- Growth $19, Pro $55, Enterprise $89 per agent per month billed annually
- Free trial
- 14 days of the Enterprise plan

Free plan for 5 users; Standard $25, Plus $45 and Pro $75 per user per month billed annually
Quoted from the Help Scout pricing page on November 5, 2026:
Standard $ 25 per user/mo For growing teams looking to automate more tasks and move beyond email.
Help Scout suits teams that want customers to feel they are emailing a person, not filing a ticket. The inbox looks and works like email, and the free plan gives 5 users one inbox and one Docs knowledge base site, which is enough for a small business to start. Standard, at $25 per user per month billed annually, adds multiple inboxes, live chat and SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, several knowledge bases, basic workflows and an AI inbox assistant. Plus, at $45, brings advanced workflows, two advanced SLA policies, a secure customer portal, round robin routing and the Salesforce, Jira and HubSpot integrations. The AI Answers agent is billed at $0.75 per resolution, with three months free for new accounts. Phone support is the gap: there is no native calling, and the Pro plan points to preferred pricing on Aircall. For email and chat teams that value a simple workspace, it ranks near the top.
Strengths
- +A permanent free plan covers 5 users, 1 inbox and 1 Docs site
- +Chat, SMS and social messaging are included from Standard
- +Free 15 day trial with no credit card
Drawbacks
- −Round robin routing and Salesforce, Jira and HubSpot integrations need Plus at $45
- −No built-in phone system; the Pro plan lists preferred pricing on Aircall
- −Standard allows only one basic SLA policy
- Free plan
- Yes, 5 users, 1 inbox and 1 Docs site

Zoho Desk packs a lot into its lower tiers, which is why it ranks well on value despite a busier interface. The free edition offers three user licenses for email ticketing. The paid Express plan adds email across several addresses, social ticketing from Instagram, Facebook and X, web forms, direct assignment, workflows, multi-level escalations, a custom domain and AI agents that run on your own model key or Zoho's LLM. Standard adds live chat for logged-in customers, instant messaging across WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, WeChat and Line, a knowledge base, a community forum, an answer bot, happiness ratings and custom dashboards. Phone support arrives on Professional through telephony integrations with toll-free numbers. Generative features such as sentiment analysis and reply suggestions need your own OpenAI key in supported regions. The pricing page we fetched showed INR rather than USD, so we list the price as pending. Teams already on Zoho CRM get the most from it.
Strengths
- +A permanent free edition includes three user licenses
- +Multi-level escalations and workflows start on the entry paid plan
- +Free data migration help from other help desks
Drawbacks
- −The pricing page here showed INR, so we could not confirm USD prices
- −Phone support needs the Professional plan and a telephony provider
- −GenAI features need your own OpenAI or DeepSeek key
- Free plan
- Yes, three user licenses
- Paid tiers
- Express, Standard, Professional and Enterprise, billed per user per month
- Telephony

Free plan; Starter from $20 per seat per month ($10 for new customers for a limited time); Professional from $100 and Enterprise from $175 per seat
Quoted from the HubSpot Service Hub pricing page on November 5, 2026:
Starter Starts at $10 $20 /month per seat*
HubSpot Service Hub makes most sense for companies that already run marketing or sales on HubSpot, because every ticket lives on the same CRM record as the deals and emails around it. The free plan includes ticketing and team email. Starter, listed at $20 per seat per month with a limited-time $10 offer for new customers, adds simple ticket automation, multiple ticket pipelines and live chat. The real help desk sits in Professional, from $100 per seat: a help desk workspace, custom objects, a knowledge base, a customer portal and the AI customer agent that answers on email and live chat. Enterprise, from $175 per seat, adds skill-based routing and finer data permissions. Feedback surveys for NPS and CSAT and a customer success workspace round out the product. The jump from Starter to Professional is steep, and a team that only needs a ticket queue will pay for CRM features it may not use.
Strengths
- +Tickets share one record with marketing and sales data
- +A free plan includes ticketing and team email
- +The AI customer agent answers on email and live chat
Drawbacks
- −The help desk workspace and knowledge base need Professional at $100 per seat
- −The Starter price shown is a limited-time new-customer discount
- −The Salesforce integration is for Professional and Enterprise only
- Free plan
- Yes, ticketing and team email

Essential $29 per seat per month billed annually ($19 for new customers); Advanced $85 and Expert $132; Fin AI Agent $0.99 per outcome
Quoted from the Intercom pricing page on November 5, 2026:
Intercom helpdesk $29 $19 per seat/mo New customers save 35%
Intercom fits teams whose support starts in a chat window. Its Messenger, shared inbox and ticketing system come on every plan, along with a public help center and pre-built reports, and the Fin AI Agent can answer across channels for $0.99 per outcome before handing off to a person. Essential is listed at $29 per seat per month billed annually, with new customers paying $19. Most growing teams will need Advanced at $85, which adds the workflow automation builder, multiple team inboxes, round robin assignment, private and multilingual help centers and 20 free Lite seats. Expert, at $132, adds SSO, HIPAA support, SLAs and multibrand Messenger. The catch is cost predictability: AI outcomes, WhatsApp and SMS are usage-based, and Copilot is $29 per agent on top. Phone support is also not the focus. For chat-first SaaS and online businesses that want AI to handle routine questions, it is a strong choice.
Strengths
- +Fin can resolve conversations before they reach an agent
- +Advanced includes 20 free Lite seats and Expert includes 50
- +14 day free trial with no card
Drawbacks
- −Per-outcome AI pricing makes monthly cost harder to predict
- −Workflow automation and multiple team inboxes need Advanced at $85
- −Copilot is a $29 per agent add-on
- Paid tiers
- Essential $29, Advanced $85, Expert $132 per seat per month billed annually
- AI agent
- Fin AI Agent $0.99 per outcome
- Free trial

Price
Starter $25 per seat per month billed annually for up to 10 seats; Professional $65 and Enterprise $105 per seat
Quoted from the Front pricing page on November 5, 2026:
Starter $25 /seat/mo, up to 10 seats
Front keeps the feel of a shared email inbox while adding ticketing, so it suits teams that run support alongside account management or operations. Starter, at $25 per seat per month billed annually for up to 10 seats, includes the shared inbox and ticketing, AI Topics, up to 10 automation rules, basic analytics and a public knowledge base, but only one channel type. Professional, at $65 for up to 50 seats, opens email, SMS, social and WhatsApp together, adds macros and up to 20 rules, advanced analytics, multiple workspaces, SSO and SCIM. Enterprise at $105 removes rule limits and includes AI Copilot, QA and CSAT. The limits on the lower plans are the main drawback: a team that needs email and chat together must buy Professional, and rule caps can pinch quickly. Front lists no native phone system on these plans. For email-heavy teams who want structure without a traditional ticket portal, it is a good fit.
Strengths
- +The email-style inbox is familiar to teams moving off Gmail or Outlook
- +14 day trial of Professional features with no credit card
- +Can connect external AI agents built with tools such as Claude
Drawbacks
- −Starter is limited to one channel type and 10 seats
- −Starter allows up to 10 automation rules and Professional up to 20
- −AI Copilot is a $20 per seat add-on below Enterprise
- Paid tiers
- Starter $25, Professional $65, Enterprise $105 per seat per month billed annually
- Seat limits
- Starter up to 10 seats, Professional up to 50
- Free trial
- 14 days of Professional features
- Customers

Growth $25 per user per month billed annually ($35 monthly); Pro $55 and Elite $85 per user billed annually
Quoted from the Hiver pricing page on November 5, 2026:
Growth $25 $35 /user/month
Hiver is a sensible step up for teams that already handle support from a shared Gmail address. It can run inside Gmail or as the standalone Hiver Omni workspace, so agents keep a familiar view. Growth, at $25 per user per month billed annually or $35 monthly, includes the shared inbox and ticketing with ownership and history, email, live chat and self-service in one workspace, rule-based automations, pre-built analytics, AI agents and an AI Copilot that drafts replies. Pro, at $55, adds a customer portal, Slack channel support and SLAs, and Elite at $85 adds AI QA among other controls. Phone is an add-on at $30 per voice seat with 1,000 pooled minutes, and extra minutes are $0.03 each. The 7 day trial is short for evaluating a help desk. Hiver ranks below the larger platforms on features, but it is quick to roll out for small teams.
Strengths
- +Works inside Gmail as well as in a standalone app
- +AI agents and Copilot are included from the entry plan
- +24/7 support over email and chat on Growth
Drawbacks
- −SLAs and a customer portal need Pro at $55
- −Phone support is a separate $30 per seat add-on
- −Trial is only 7 days
- Paid tiers
- Growth $25, Pro $55, Elite $85 per user per month billed annually
- Monthly billing
- Growth $35 per user per month
- Free trial
- 7 days of the Elite plan
- Voice

Starter $15 per agent per month billed annually (offer price $11 until Nov 22); Team $29 and Business $49 per agent billed annually
Quoted from the LiveAgent pricing page on November 5, 2026:
Annual $11 · regular $15 per agent / month
LiveAgent is the budget pick for teams that need phone support next to email and chat. Starter, at a regular $15 per agent per month billed annually, covers email, live chat, contact forms and a knowledge base for up to 5 agents, with an $11 offer price until November 22. The Team plan, regularly $29, is the one most support teams will want: it adds a call center, Facebook, Instagram, X, Viber, WhatsApp and Telegram, plus agent, channel and SLA reports, CSAT surveys and custom roles, for up to 15 agents. Business at $49 removes the agent cap and adds an MCP server, audit log and branding removal. LiveAgent charges no fee for AI; instead you connect your own provider and pay it directly. The interface carries many settings and takes longer to learn than Help Scout or Front. For the price of a basic chat tool elsewhere, it delivers a real multichannel help desk with phone.
Strengths
- +Phone support is included from the $29 Team plan
- +30 day free trial with no credit card
- +Free setup and migration from Zendesk, Freshdesk or Help Scout
Drawbacks
- −Starter has no social channels, call center or reporting and caps at 5 agents
- −AI runs on a provider you connect, so model costs are billed separately
- −Team caps at 15 agents
- Paid tiers
- Starter $15, Team $29, Business $49 per agent per month billed annually; Enterprise flat fee
- Monthly billing
- Starter $19, Team $35, Business $59 per agent at regular prices

Price
Starter $10 per month billed monthly for 50 tickets and 3 user seats; Basic $60 a month for 300 tickets
Quoted from the Gorgias pricing page on November 5, 2026:
$10 /mo Billed monthly · cancel anytime Included 50 tickets / month
Gorgias is built for online stores, and it only makes sense if you sell through Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Magento. Instead of charging per agent, it charges by monthly ticket volume. Starter costs $10 a month billed monthly with 50 tickets and 3 user seats, Basic costs $60 for 300 tickets, and Pro costs $360 for 2,000 tickets, with up to 500 user seats on those larger plans. Annual billing lowers Basic to $50 a month. Every plan covers email, chat, social and a help center, and the AI Agent is billed per automated interaction, with brand voice controls and, from Basic, actions such as cancellations and discounts. Pro adds revenue attribution. Voice and SMS are add-ons. Overage fees of $0.40 per ticket on the lower plans can add up during a sale, so check your peak months. For a store that wants order data next to every conversation, it beats general help desks.
Strengths
- +Priced by tickets, with up to 500 user seats from Basic
- +Order data from the store sits next to the conversation
- +Free trial with no credit card required
Drawbacks
- −Starter includes only 50 tickets and 3 seats
- −Overage costs $0.40 per ticket on Starter and Basic
- −Built for online stores, so it fits other businesses less well
- Paid tiers
- Starter $10, Basic $60, Pro $360, Advanced $900 per month billed monthly
- Tickets included
- 50, 300, 2,000 and 5,000 per month
- User seats
- 3 on Starter, 500 on other plans
- Annual billing
- Basic $50, Pro $300, Advanced $750 per month
What to check before you buy
Map your channels before comparing plans
Most entry plans cover email only or one channel type. Zendesk Support Team has no chat or phone, Front Starter allows one channel type, and LiveAgent Starter has no call center. List the channels you answer today and the ones you will add within a year, then price the plan that covers them.
Decide how you will handle phone support
Only some tools include calling. Zendesk Suite plans and LiveAgent Team have built-in telephony, Zoho Desk connects telephony providers on Professional, and Hiver sells voice as a $30 per seat add-on. Help Scout and Intercom are better suited to email and chat.
Budget for AI on top of seats
AI agents are often billed per use. Intercom charges $0.99 per Fin outcome, Help Scout $0.75 per AI Answers resolution and Freshdesk $49 per 100 extra AI agent sessions. Estimate how many conversations AI would resolve each month and add that to the seat cost.
Check where routing and SLAs start
Round robin or skills-based routing and SLA policies usually sit one tier above the entry plan. Freshdesk adds multiple SLA policies on Pro, Help Scout adds round robin routing on Plus, and Zendesk adds skills-based routing on Suite Professional.
Count tickets as well as agents
Per-agent pricing is simple, but some tools meter volume. Gorgias includes a fixed number of tickets per month with per-ticket overage, and several vendors limit inboxes or knowledge base sites per plan. Model a busy month, not an average one.
Common questions
- What is help desk software?
- It is software that turns customer messages from email, chat, phone and social channels into tickets that a support team can assign, track and resolve. Most help desks also include a knowledge base, automation rules and reports on response times.

- What is the cheapest help desk software?
- Gorgias Starter costs $10 a month for 50 tickets, but it is built for online stores. For per-agent pricing, LiveAgent Starter is $15 per agent per month billed annually, and Zendesk Support Team and Freshdesk Growth both cost $19 per agent per month billed annually.
- Which help desk is best for phone support?
- Zendesk includes telephony from its Suite Team plan at $55 per agent, and LiveAgent includes a call center from its Team plan at $29 per agent billed annually. Zoho Desk supports phone through telephony integrations on its Professional plan.
