9 Best Email Marketing Software for Ecommerce of 2026

By the TopToolAdvisor research desk · Updated November 6, 2026 · Next review December 21, 2026 · 9 products scored

Our pickKlaviyoGrowing online stores that want detailed segmentation and many behavior-based flows.8.9

Our pick in brief

Klaviyo ranks first because its flows react to what shoppers do in your store, from viewed products and started checkouts to price drops and predicted next orders, and it can split a flow by cart value, customer lifetime value or VIP status. Omnisend is close behind on value, with 24/7 chat support on every plan and email, SMS and push in one automation builder. Shopify Messaging is the simplest choice for a Shopify store that sends fewer than 10,000 emails a month. Brevo and Moosend suit stores watching cost, Drip and ActiveCampaign suit teams that want deeper segmentation or a CRM, Mailchimp fits stores that already use its wider tools, and Privy fits Shopify stores that care most about pop-ups and list growth.

Quick answer

Klaviyo is the best email marketing software for online stores in 2026, with a free plan for 250 active profiles and the deepest set of store-triggered flows; Omnisend suits small and mid-size stores that want email, SMS and push in one builder, with Standard at $48 for the first three months at 500 contacts. Moosend is the cheapest paid option at $7 per month billed annually, and Shopify Messaging gives Shopify stores 10,000 free emails a month.

This list is for online stores choosing the tool that sends their welcome series, abandoned cart reminders, post-purchase emails and promotional campaigns. We compared documented features and published prices for nine platforms, looking at the store integrations each one offers, which automation triggers come from shopping behavior, what the entry plan costs and how pricing grows with your list or send volume. Scores cover features, ease of use and value, and the overall score is a weighted average of the three. Prices come from each vendor's own pricing page on the date shown, and prices we could not confirm in US dollars are marked as pending.

    Price

See vendor pricing (USD check pending): free plan for up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month

We could not confirm a US price yet. Check the Klaviyo pricing page.

Klaviyo is built for stores whose email program runs on customer data. Its flow builder triggers on actions such as viewing a product, starting checkout, placing an order or a price drop, and it can also fire on a predicted next order date, which helps with replenishment reminders. Each flow can branch by cart value, VIP status, new or returning customer, location or lifetime value, and email, SMS and push can sit in the same sequence. More than 60 templates cover the standard store flows, and the newer Composer agent can draft campaigns and flows from a prompt. The free plan is a real working account with flows and segmentation, but it caps out at 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month, and full email support ends after 60 days. Paid prices were shown only in other currencies from our location, so check the calculator on Klaviyo's US page for your list size before you commit.

    Strengths

    • +The widest range of store-based triggers and split conditions on this list
    • +Free plan includes flows, segmentation and reporting
    • +A/B testing of send times, channels, content and discount offers inside flows

Free plan for 250 contacts; Standard is $48 for the first three months at 500 contacts (about $16 a month), shown as $11.20 a month with a 30% introductory discount

Quoted from the Omnisend pricing page on November 6, 2026: Standard Best for growing and medium-sized businesses focused on email marketing $11.20 /mo Billed monthly Total of: $48.00 $33.60 today -30%

Omnisend aims at the same store owners as Klaviyo but with a lower entry price and simpler plans. The free tier gives 250 contacts, 500 emails and 500 web push notifications a month, and Standard lists $48 for the first three months at 500 contacts with 6,000 monthly emails and unlimited web push. The automation builder includes ready workflows for welcome, cart recovery, product abandonment and post-purchase, and it lets you mix email, SMS and push in one sequence with split paths and conditions. Support is a real differentiator: Omnisend states that 24/7 live chat and email support is available on every plan, including free, and it migrates contacts and segments for you. The limits sit in the middle tier. SMS requires Pro, and AI product recommendations and personalized send times are add-ons from $5 a month on Standard. For a store under a few thousand contacts, it covers the core flows at a modest cost.

    Strengths

    • +Support around the clock even on the free plan
    • +Unlimited web push notifications from Standard
    • +Free account expert once spend reaches $400 a month

    Drawbacks

    • −Standard caps sends at 6,000 emails a month at 500 contacts
    • −SMS needs the Pro plan
    • −Product recommendations and send-time optimization are paid add-ons on Standard

    Price

10,000 emails a month free on any Shopify plan, then $1 per 1,000 additional emails; SMS charged separately

Quoted from the Shopify Messaging pricing page on November 6, 2026: Every month, you can send up to 10,000 manual or automated emails for free. After that, only pay for what you use at $1 USD per 1,000 additional emails sent

Shopify Messaging, the renamed Shopify Email, is the lowest-effort option for a Shopify store. It lives inside the Shopify admin, so templates fill in your logo, colors, products and prices automatically, and customer lists and segments are the ones you already have. Every merchant on Basic, Grow, Advanced or Shopify Plus can send 10,000 emails a month at no extra cost, then pays $1 per 1,000 emails, with lower rates after 300,000 a month. Pre-built automations cover welcome, winback and upsell emails, and custom workflows support triggers, conditions and wait steps. Emails can carry express checkout buttons, and Sidekick can write copy and suggest a send time. The limits are depth and portability. Segmentation and split logic are lighter than Klaviyo or Omnisend, SMS is billed separately, and the app is useless if you ever leave Shopify. For a small Shopify store sending a weekly campaign and a few flows, it may be all you need.

    Strengths

    • +No separate subscription for the first 10,000 emails a month
    • +Customer and order data already sit in the same admin
    • +Sidekick AI drafts copy and recommends send times

    Drawbacks

    • −Works only for stores on Shopify
    • −Fewer segmentation and split options than dedicated platforms
    • −Requires Shopify Network Intelligence to be enabled

    Price

See vendor pricing (USD check pending): free plan with up to 300 emails a day; paid plans shown in EUR from our location

We could not confirm a US price yet. Check the Brevo pricing page.

Brevo charges by how many emails you send rather than how many contacts you store, which suits stores with big lists of one-time buyers. The free plan allows up to 300 emails a day, and Starter begins at 5,000 emails a month with advanced segmentation, forms and an AI content generator. Store automation starts on Standard, which adds unlimited multi-step workflows, A/B tests, send-time optimization and the web and event tracking needed to react to on-site behavior. The features most stores compare against Klaviyo, such as AI product recommendations, back in stock alerts, coupons and RFM scoring, are reserved for Professional, which starts at 150,000 emails a month. Brevo also sends SMS and WhatsApp, with credits sold separately. Paid prices appeared only in euros from our location, so confirm the US price for your send volume on Brevo's site. For a store that mails a large list once or twice a month, the volume model can cost less than contact-based rivals.

    Strengths

    • +Large lists cost no more if send volume stays the same
    • +Advanced segmentation available from Starter
    • +Email, SMS and WhatsApp from one account

    Drawbacks

    • −Marketing automation and event tracking start on Standard, not Starter
    • −Advanced ecommerce features sit on the much pricier Professional tier

    Price

From $39 per month for up to 2,500 people with unlimited email sends; 14-day free trial

Quoted from the Drip pricing page on November 6, 2026: Price per month: $39 Start for free 14-day free trial. No credit card required. Included in price: 1-2,500 people Unlimited email sends

Drip was built for ecommerce and prices simply: you pay for list size, and every feature comes with every plan. The entry price is $39 a month for up to 2,500 people, with unlimited email sends, up to 50 workflows, dynamic segments, onsite campaigns, open API access and unlimited sub-accounts. Segments follow behavior such as browsing, buying, returning items and going quiet, and ready playbooks cover welcome, abandoned cart and win-back. Drip connects to Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce among more than 90 integrations, and its reports trace orders back to the email that drove them. Drip has announced it is joining Awesome Motive, the company behind WPForms and OptinMonster. The main drawback is the starting cost: a store with a few hundred contacts pays the same $39 as one with 2,500, and there is no free plan. Support runs by email and live chat on weekdays rather than around the clock.

    Strengths

    • +Every feature is included at every list size
    • +Revenue attribution reports tie orders to individual emails
    • +Email and live chat support for all customers, including trials

    Drawbacks

    • −Entry price is higher than most rivals for small lists
    • −No free plan

    Price

Pro from $9 per month for 500 contacts, or $7 per month billed annually; 30-day free trial

Quoted from the Moosend pricing page on November 6, 2026: pay once a year $7 $9 Per month Create your free account

Moosend offers the cheapest verified way on this list to run real store automation. Pro costs $9 a month for 500 contacts, or $7 a month billed annually, and includes unlimited email sends. Its automation builder has triggers for viewing a product or browsing a page, and Moosend tracks product views, carts and purchases, so abandoned cart and browse follow-ups work on the entry plan. Emails can include product blocks that fill in description and price from a connected store, plus recommendations based on past purchases and site behavior, and a dashboard shows revenue, orders and top products. Moosend also offers Audience Discovery, an AI tool that tags contacts by behavior. The trade-offs are channel breadth and depth. There is no permanent free plan, only a 30-day trial, the pricing page does not list SMS, and the integration catalog is less store-focused than Klaviyo or Drip. For a small store that needs email automation on a tight budget, the price is hard to beat.

    Strengths

    • +Lowest verified paid entry price on this list
    • +Ecommerce triggers and tracking included on Pro
    • +Unlimited sends, so frequent campaigns cost no more

    Drawbacks

    • −No permanent free plan, only a 30-day trial
    • −No built-in SMS channel listed on the pricing page
    • −Fewer store integrations highlighted than ecommerce-first rivals

    Price

Starter from $15 per month billed yearly for 1,000 contacts; Plus from $49, Pro from $79, Enterprise from $145

Quoted from the ActiveCampaign pricing page on November 6, 2026: Starter For getting your first automations live. Starts at $15 / Month Billed yearly for 1,000 contacts

ActiveCampaign is a general automation platform with a solid ecommerce kit on top. Its store features include abandoned cart reminders, product catalog blocks, cross-sell messages, personalized discounts, predictive sending and subscription and recurring payment tools, and it connects to more than 900 apps. The automation builder supports split and conditional actions, and an AI assistant can draft a workflow from a plain-text goal. Starter costs $15 a month billed yearly for 1,000 contacts and 10,000 monthly sends with one user seat, and Plus at $49 billed yearly is the next tier up. Reports on cart abandonment can point to checkout problems such as shipping costs. The trade-off is that ActiveCampaign is less store-native than Klaviyo or Drip, and its builder takes more setup to master. It makes most sense for stores that also sell to leads over a longer cycle or want sales and marketing in one account.

    Strengths

    • +Low entry price for 1,000 contacts and 10,000 monthly sends
    • +Automation depth that suits complex customer journeys
    • +Cart abandonment reporting to spot checkout problems

    Drawbacks

    • −Starter includes only 1 user seat
    • −The builder takes longer to learn than store-first tools
    • −No free plan

    Price

See vendor pricing (USD check pending): free plan for fewer than 250 contacts; Essentials, Standard and Premium priced by contacts

We could not confirm a US price yet. Check the Mailchimp pricing page.

Mailchimp is a general email platform that many stores already know, and it connects to Shopify, WooCommerce and more than 300 other tools. For ecommerce, the plan you choose matters a lot. Essentials allows flows of only 4 steps, which is enough for a short cart reminder but not for a branching post-purchase series. Standard raises that to 200 flows and adds dynamic content, custom reports, generative AI features and one onboarding session, with 6,000 monthly sends at the entry contact tier. Premium adds 150,000 monthly sends, unlimited seats and phone support. SMS is an add-on on every paid plan, and a Pay As You Go option suits stores that mail only a few times a year. The free plan covers fewer than 250 contacts. Prices were shown only in euros from our location, so check the US calculator. Compared with Klaviyo or Omnisend, store-triggered segmentation is less central, and cost rises steeply with contacts.

    Strengths

    • +Familiar drag-and-drop editor with many templates
    • +24/7 email and chat support on Essentials and Standard
    • +Pay As You Go credits for stores that send rarely

    Drawbacks

    • −Essentials limits flows to 4 steps
    • −Standard includes 6,000 monthly sends at the entry contact tier

    Price

Email from $30 per month with 250 free SMS credits included; pop-ups only from $24 per month; 15-day free trial

Quoted from the Privy pricing page on November 6, 2026: Pricing Starts at $30/month with 250 free SMS credits included

Privy started as a pop-up tool and grew into email and SMS for small stores, and it has since acquired Sendlane. The email plan starts at $30 a month with 250 SMS credits included, unlimited email sends and pricing based only on mailable contacts. Its strength is list growth: pop-ups support spin-to-win, exit intent, multi-step quizzes, cart savers and cross-sell displays, and a separate pop-ups only plan starts at $24 a month for stores that send email elsewhere, syncing contacts to Shopify, BigCommerce, Wix or Klaviyo. Email and SMS automations, segmentation and reporting are included, with email and live chat support. There are no annual contracts, and SMS credits roll over. The drawbacks are price at the low end, since a small list still pays $30, and flow logic that is simpler than Klaviyo or Drip. Privy suits a Shopify store that wants to grow its list quickly with one easy tool.

    Strengths

    • +Strong pop-up and list growth tools in the same account
    • +No annual contract or email sending limits
    • +SMS credits roll over to the next billing period

    Drawbacks

    • −No free plan
    • −Entry price is high for a store with a small list
    • −Fewer advanced flow conditions than Klaviyo or Drip

What to check before you buy

Start with your store platform

The store connection decides which events you can automate. Klaviyo lists integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce and Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Drip connects to Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce, and Shopify Messaging works only inside a Shopify store. Confirm your platform sends product views, carts and orders to the tool before you compare anything else.

Check which flows the entry plan includes

Abandoned cart, browse abandonment, welcome and post-purchase flows earn most of the revenue from store email. Mailchimp Essentials caps flows at 4 steps, Brevo holds multi-step workflows for Standard, and Moosend includes product view and cart triggers on Pro. Look at the plan you can afford, not the top tier.

Work out what you pay for

Most tools here charge by contact count, so a large list of past buyers raises the bill even if you rarely mail it. Brevo sizes plans by monthly email volume, Shopify Messaging charges $1 per 1,000 emails after the free 10,000, and Privy charges only for mailable contacts. Count both your list and your monthly sends, including holiday peaks.

Decide if you need SMS in the same tool

Klaviyo, Omnisend, Privy, Brevo and Shopify Messaging can send SMS alongside email, usually billed as credits on top of the plan. Running both channels from one profile avoids sending a cart reminder by email and text at the same moment. If you only need email, a cheaper email-first plan may serve you better.

Common questions

What is the best email marketing software for ecommerce in 2026?
Klaviyo is our top pick because its flows trigger on store events such as viewed products, started checkouts and price drops, and it offers a free plan for 250 active profiles. Omnisend is the runner-up for smaller stores, and Shopify Messaging is the simplest choice for Shopify stores.
What is the cheapest email marketing tool for an online store?
Shopify Messaging lets Shopify stores send 10,000 emails a month at no extra cost, then charges $1 per 1,000 emails. Among standalone paid plans we verified, Moosend Pro is cheapest at $7 per month billed annually for 500 contacts, with product view and cart triggers included.
Which tools include abandoned cart emails on a free plan?
Klaviyo's free plan includes flows for up to 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month, and Shopify Messaging includes automations within its 10,000 free emails. Omnisend also has a free plan for 250 contacts. Check each vendor's plan details, since send limits are low.
Should a store send SMS from the same tool as email?
Using one tool keeps a single customer profile, so a cart reminder is not sent by email and text at the same time. Klaviyo, Omnisend, Privy, Brevo and Shopify Messaging all support SMS, usually as credits billed on top of the plan.
How did you rank these tools?
We compared documented features and published prices from each vendor's own site and scored features, ease of use and value. The overall score weights features at 35%, ease of use at 35% and value at 30%.
