10 Best Email Marketing Software for Small Business of 2026
By the TopToolAdvisor research desk · Updated November 6, 2026 · Next review December 21, 2026 · 10 products scored
Our pick in brief
MailerLite gives a small business the most for the least: the free plan covers 250 subscribers with automations, signup forms and a landing page, and Comfort starts at $12 a month for the full editor and testing tools. Brevo is the better fit when your list is large but you send rarely, since it prices by email volume and its Starter plan is $9 a month. Mailchimp has the deepest toolset and the most integrations but costs more as the list grows. Constant Contact is the pick for owners who want live phone help and social posting in the same plan, and Zoho Campaigns has the most generous free tier at 2,000 contacts.
Quick answer
MailerLite is the best email marketing software for small businesses on a budget in 2026, with a free plan for 250 subscribers and Comfort from $12 per month; Brevo suits businesses with a large contact list that send a few campaigns a month. The cheapest paid options are Brevo Starter and Mailjet Starter at $9 per month.
This list is for small businesses that send a regular newsletter, seasonal promotions and a few automated emails, and that want to keep the monthly bill small. Think shops, studios, clinics, local services and solo consultants with a list of a few hundred to a few thousand contacts. We compared documented features and published prices for ten email tools, paying most attention to free plans and the first paid tier, because that is where small senders spend most of their time. Each tool gets scores for features, ease of use and value, and the overall score weights them 35, 35 and 30. Prices come from each vendor's own pricing page on the date shown. Where a page only showed us euros or zloty, the price is marked as pending until we can confirm it in US dollars.

Free plan for up to 250 subscribers; Comfort from $12 per month, Power from $25 per month; save 10% billed yearly
Quoted from the MailerLite pricing page on November 6, 2026:
The Comfort plan (starting $12/month) is the full toolset at the right size for solopreneurs and small teams.
MailerLite fits the way most small businesses use email: a newsletter, a promotion now and then, and a welcome series for new signups. The free plan already handles all three, with campaigns, automations, signup forms, a landing page and a small website for up to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month. That is enough for a new shop or studio to build the habit at no cost. Comfort starts at $12 a month and adds unlimited templates, dynamic emails, automatic resends to people who did not open, multivariate testing, an unsubscribe page builder, a preference center and an AI writing assistant. It also allows 50 automations, 10 forms and 3 user seats, which covers most small teams. Power, from $25 a month, removes those caps. The limits to watch are the 250 subscriber ceiling on Free and the seat count on Comfort if several people edit campaigns.
Strengths
- +The free plan includes automations, not just one-off campaigns
- +Comfort adds testing and a preference center for $12 a month
- +All three email editors are available from the free plan
Drawbacks
- −The free plan stops at 250 subscribers
- −Comfort limits you to 50 automations, 10 forms and 3 seats
- −Unlimited seats and automations need the Power plan
- Free plan
- 250 subscribers, 2,500 monthly emails, 2 seats
- Comfort
- From $12 per month
- Power
- From $25 per month

Free plan with up to 300 emails per day; Starter $9 per month, Standard $18 per month, Professional from $499 per month; 10% off yearly
Quoted from the Brevo pricing page on November 6, 2026:
| Starter | `starter` | \$9.00 | \$97.00 |
Brevo turns the usual pricing model around. Instead of charging for every contact you store, it charges for the emails you send, which suits a small business that has collected a large list from in-store signups or past orders but only emails it a few times a month. The free plan sends up to 300 emails a day, and Starter costs $9 a month for 5,000 emails and removes the Brevo logo. Standard, at $18 a month, adds click heatmaps, geography and device reports and a landing page. The editor is drag and drop with industry templates and an AI content generator, and segmentation can filter on website activity and campaign engagement. The tradeoffs are real: the daily cap on Free spreads a large send across several days, Starter allows one user, and the multichannel Professional plan jumps to $499 a month.
Strengths
- +Pricing follows email volume, so a large list does not raise the bill on its own
- +Starter removes the Brevo logo for $9 a month
- +Email, SMS and sales tools sit on one account
Drawbacks
- −The free plan's 300 per day cap makes a big newsletter slow to send
- −Starter is a single-user plan
- −Professional, with WhatsApp and push, starts at $499 a month
- Free plan
- Up to 300 emails per day

- $9 per month for 5,000 emails

Mailchimp is the name many small business owners already know, and its plan ladder is easy to follow: a basic Free plan for lists under 250 contacts, then Essentials, Standard and Premium, each priced by contact count. Essentials and Standard both come with a 14-day trial. Standard is the plan Mailchimp recommends for growing businesses, with enhanced automation flows, custom-coded templates, popup forms and generative AI features. Premium adds multivariate testing, predictive segmentation, phone and priority support and personalized onboarding. The platform does a lot, so a business rarely has to switch tools as its marketing gets more ambitious. The catch for a budget-minded business is cost: plans are tied to contacts and Mailchimp notes that overages apply when limits are exceeded, so a growing list raises the bill faster than on volume-priced tools. Our pricing page check returned euros, so the US price is pending.
Strengths
- +Free, Essentials, Standard and Premium give a clear upgrade path
- +Standard includes enhanced automations and custom-coded templates
- +Phone and priority support available on Premium
Drawbacks
- −The free plan is meant for lists under 250 contacts
- −Overage charges apply when contact or send limits are exceeded
- −Cost climbs faster than budget tools as the list grows
- Free plan
- For businesses with fewer than 250 contacts

Lite from $10.20 per month billed annually; Standard from $29.75, Premium from $68; save 15% when you prepay 12 months
Quoted from the Constant Contact pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Lite Starting at $ 10 20 /mo billed annually
Constant Contact is built for owners who would rather call someone than read a help article. Every plan, including Lite, comes with live 1:1 onboarding and live phone and chat support, which is unusual at this price. Lite starts at $10.20 a month billed annually and covers the drag and drop editor, an AI copy generator, templates, signup forms and automatic posting to Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Event hosting, product sales and payments are on every plan too. The limits show up in automation and targeting: Lite has one automation template and one custom segment. Standard, from $29.75, adds scheduling, subject line testing, three automation templates, resends to non-openers and ten segments. Premium, from $68, opens custom automations and unlimited segments. Prices depend on contacts and sends, and sends beyond the allowance cost $2 per 1,000.
Strengths
- +Live phone and chat support from the cheapest plan
- +Social posting and email share one account
- +Lite is priced for very small budgets
Drawbacks
- −Lite includes 1 automation template and 1 custom segment
- −No permanent free plan
- −Sends over the plan allowance cost $2 per 1,000
- Lite
- From $10.20 per month billed annually
- Standard
- From $29.75 per month billed annually

Free plan for 6,000 emails a month; Starter $9 per month, Essential $19, Premium $29; 10% off with annual payment
Quoted from the Mailjet pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Starter $ 9 /month 8,000 emails/month No daily sending limit
Mailjet suits a small business that wants a simple, predictable bill and may also need to send receipts or account emails from its website. The free plan allows 6,000 emails a month to 1,000 contacts, with a 200 per day cap, and already includes APIs, SMTP relay, webhooks, the advanced editor and a form builder. Starter costs $9 a month for 8,000 emails and 2,000 contacts with no daily limit. Essential, at $19 a month for 15,000 emails, adds unlimited contacts, segmentation, AI-assisted content and removes the Mailjet logo. Premium, at $29 a month, is where automations, landing pages and advanced statistics appear. That split is the main drawback for marketers, since a welcome series needs the top self-serve plan. For a business that mostly sends newsletters and order emails, though, the entry prices are among the lowest here, and paying annually takes off 10%.
Strengths
- +Starter at $9 a month removes the daily sending limit
- +Marketing and transactional email on one account
- +Essential allows unlimited contacts
Drawbacks
- −Automations need the Premium plan
- −The free plan caps sends at 200 per day
- −Segmentation starts on Essential, not Starter
- Free plan
- 6,000 emails a month, 200 per day, 1,000 contacts
- Starter
- $9 per month, 8,000 emails, 2,000 contacts
- Essential

Zoho Campaigns has the most generous free plan on this list for contact count: 2,000 contacts, 6,000 emails a month and five users, with templates, the drag and drop editor, HTML import and generative AI. A small business with a few thousand customers can run a monthly newsletter for free for a long time. Standard, priced by contact tier from 500 contacts, removes the email cap and adds 10 users, basic segmentation, more than 120 templates, A/B testing, attachments and simple drag and drop workflows. Professional adds the tools a growing shop eventually wants, such as contact scoring, dynamic content, send time optimization, pop-up forms, RSS campaigns and abandoned cart workflows. It works best for businesses already using Zoho CRM or Zoho Books, and the pricing page offers a 25% discount for yearly billing. Our check of the page did not return a fixed US dollar figure, so the price is pending.
Strengths
- +The free plan covers 2,000 contacts, far more than most rivals
- +Five users can share the free account
- +Yearly billing saves 25%
Drawbacks
- −Segmentation on Standard is basic
- −Abandoned cart workflows need the Professional plan
- −The interface follows Zoho's suite style, which takes some learning
- Free plan
- 2,000 contacts, 6,000 emails a month, 5 users

- From 500 contacts, up to 100,000 contacts

Price
From $19 per month billed monthly for 1,000 subscribers; 18% off a 12-month plan; free version after the trial
Quoted from the GetResponse pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Monthly payment plans are bracketed by list size, starting at $19 per month for unlimited messages to 1,000 subscribers.
GetResponse prices by list size and does not count sends, starting at $19 a month for unlimited messages to 1,000 subscribers, with 18% off a 12-month plan. That suits a business that emails often, such as a shop running weekly promotions. Starter includes AI content generators, a welcome email series, one custom automation workflow, a landing page builder, signup forms and popups, and SMS marketing. Marketer adds unlimited workflows, advanced segmentation, abandoned cart recovery, sales funnels, promo codes and web push notifications. Creator layers on webinars, a website builder and a course creator. New accounts get 14 days of premium features, after which the account falls back to a free version with limits. The tool is broad, which also means more menus to learn than in MailerLite or Constant Contact, and the most useful ecommerce features sit on Marketer rather than Starter.
Strengths
- +Sends are unlimited, so frequent senders pay only for list size
- +Landing pages and popups are included from Starter
- +A free version remains after the 14-day trial
Drawbacks
- −Starter allows one custom automation workflow
- −Advanced segmentation needs the Marketer plan
- −Premium features are lost on the free version after the trial

Free plan up to 10,000 subscribers; Creator from $33 per month billed yearly for 1,000 subscribers; Pro from $66
Quoted from the Kit pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Creator For growing creators $ 33 /mo $ 390 billed yearly
Kit is designed for people who sell their own expertise, so it fits consultants, coaches, writers and makers better than a typical retail shop. Its free plan is unusually large at up to 10,000 subscribers and includes unlimited landing pages and forms, unlimited broadcasts, tagging and segmentation, and the ability to sell digital products and subscriptions. That means a solo business can grow a sizable newsletter before paying anything. Creator starts at $33 a month billed yearly for 1,000 subscribers and adds unlimited visual automations and email sequences, polls, SMS marketing, RSS campaigns, removal of Kit branding and 24/7 email and chat support. Pro, from $66, adds engagement scoring, deliverability reporting, a referral system and unlimited users. The weak point for a budget is the jump from free to $33, which is the highest entry price on this list, so it works best for businesses that earn directly from their audience.
Strengths
- +The free plan allows up to 10,000 subscribers
- +Selling digital products and subscriptions works from the free plan
- +Creator removes Kit branding and adds unlimited automations
Drawbacks
- −Creator starts at $33 a month, the highest entry price here
- −Automations are limited until Creator
- −Built for creators, so retail features such as coupons are less central
- Free plan
- Up to 10,000 subscribers
- Creator
- From $33 per month billed yearly
- Pro
- From $66 per month billed yearly
- Users
- Over 550,000 creator business owners

Price
Lite from $12.49 per month billed annually; Plus from $19.99 per month billed annually
Quoted from the AWeber pricing page on November 6, 2026:
$ 12.49 /month Billed annually. Start your 14-day trial
AWeber keeps things simple with two main plans. Lite, at $12.49 a month billed annually, covers one email list, three landing pages, three email automations, three users and one custom segment, with a monthly send allowance of ten times your subscriber maximum. Plus, at $19.99 a month billed annually, removes most of those caps with unlimited lists, landing pages, automations, segments and users, and adds priority 24/7 support, advanced reporting, sales tracking and removal of AWeber branding. Both start with a 14-day trial. For owners who do not want to build anything themselves, AWeber sells a Done For You service that sets up emails, landing pages and workflows in seven days. The Lite plan is fine for one newsletter list, but a business with separate lists for customers and leads will need Plus. Compared with MailerLite and Brevo, AWeber offers no permanent free plan.
Strengths
- +Lite costs $12.49 a month billed annually
- +Plus removes most caps for $19.99 a month billed annually
- +A paid setup service is available for owners short on time
Drawbacks
- −Lite allows 1 email list and 1 custom segment
- −No permanent free plan
- −Monthly billing on Plus costs more than the annual rate
- Lite
- $12.49 per month billed annually
- Plus
- $19.99 per month billed annually
- Trial
- 14 days
- Monthly sends
- 10x subscriber max on Lite, 12x on Plus

Moosend puts its main marketing tools in one Pro plan rather than spreading them across tiers: unlimited email campaigns, marketing automation with prebuilt recipes, landing pages and subscription forms are all included. Pro is priced by contact count from 500 contacts up, and paying twice a year saves 15% while paying yearly saves 20%. Moosend+ lets you add transactional email, dedicated IPs, hosted files or audience discovery, and Enterprise bundles those with SSO and an account manager. For seasonal senders there is also a credits plan that charges per email rather than per month. The 30-day trial needs no credit card, but forms and landing pages cannot be published during it, so it is a test drive rather than a free plan. Our check of the pricing page did not return a fixed US dollar figure, so the starting price is pending.
Strengths
- +Automation, landing pages and forms are in the Pro plan
- +30-day free trial with no credit card
- +Annual billing saves 20% and biannual billing 15%
Drawbacks
- −No permanent free plan
- −On the free trial, forms and landing pages stay unpublished
- −Transactional email and dedicated IPs cost extra
- Trial
- 30 days, no credit card required
- Billing options
- Monthly, biannual (save 15%), annual (save 20%)

What to check before you buy
Price by contacts or by sends
Most tools here charge by the size of your list, so a growing list raises the bill even if you send once a month. Brevo and Mailjet charge by monthly email volume instead: Brevo Starter begins at 5,000 emails a month and Mailjet Starter at 8,000. If you have many contacts and send one newsletter a month, volume pricing is usually cheaper. If you send several emails a week to a small list, contact pricing usually wins.
Read the free plan limits closely
Free plans differ more than their names suggest. MailerLite allows 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, Mailchimp's basic free plan is aimed at lists under 250 contacts, Brevo caps sending at 300 emails per day, Mailjet allows 6,000 emails a month with a 200 per day cap, Zoho Campaigns covers 2,000 contacts and 6,000 emails a month, and Kit covers up to 10,000 subscribers. Pick the one whose limit you will not hit within a year.
Check where automation starts
A welcome series and a follow-up after a purchase are the automations most small businesses need first. MailerLite and Kit include automations on their free plans, GetResponse Starter includes a welcome series and one custom workflow, AWeber Lite allows three automations, and Constant Contact Lite includes one automation template. Mailjet keeps automations for its Premium plan.
Count the people who will log in
If more than one person writes or approves campaigns, check seats. MailerLite Free has 2 seats and Comfort 3, Zoho Campaigns Free has 5 users and Standard 10, AWeber Lite has 3 users and Plus unlimited, and Brevo Starter is a single-user plan. Kit adds unlimited users on its Pro plan.
Use the trial on a real campaign
Import your actual list, build your usual newsletter from a template and send it to a test segment. Check how the editor handles your logo and product photos on mobile, how long the signup form takes to build, and whether the reports show who clicked. Most vendors here offer a free plan or a 14 to 30 day trial, so you can run this test before you pay.
Common questions
- What is the best email marketing software for a small business?
- MailerLite is our top pick for small businesses on a budget, with a free plan for 250 subscribers and Comfort from $12 per month. Brevo is the best choice for large lists that send rarely, at $9 per month for 5,000 emails, and Mailchimp has the broadest toolset.
- What is the cheapest email marketing tool for small businesses?
- Brevo Starter and Mailjet Starter are the cheapest paid plans we compared at $9 per month. Constant Contact Lite starts at $10.20 per month billed annually, and AWeber Lite at $12.49 per month billed annually.
- Is there free email marketing software for small businesses?
- Yes. Zoho Campaigns is free for 2,000 contacts and 6,000 emails a month, Kit is free for up to 10,000 subscribers, MailerLite is free for 250 subscribers, Mailjet is free for 6,000 emails a month, and Brevo's free plan sends up to 300 emails per day. Mailchimp's basic free plan is aimed at lists under 250 contacts.
- Should I choose a tool priced by contacts or by emails sent?
- If your list is large and you send once or twice a month, volume pricing from Brevo or Mailjet is usually cheaper. If you email a smaller list several times a week, contact pricing from MailerLite, GetResponse or AWeber tends to work out better because sends are not counted the same way.
- Which email tool has the best support for small business owners?
- Constant Contact includes live 1:1 onboarding and live phone and chat support on every plan, including Lite. AWeber Plus includes priority 24/7 support, and Kit Creator includes 24/7 email and chat support.
- How did we rank these email marketing tools?
- We compared documented features and published prices from each vendor's own pages. Each tool gets scores for features, ease of use and value, and the overall score weights them 35, 35 and 30.
