10 Best Survey Software of 2026

By the TopToolAdvisor research desk · Updated November 5, 2026 · Next review December 20, 2026 · 10 products scored

Our pickSurveyMonkeyTeams that run a steady mix of customer, employee and market surveys and want templates, analysis and a paid respondent panel in one place.8.6

Our pick in brief

SurveyMonkey is the best all-round pick, with templates for customer, employee and market surveys, AI thematic analysis and a paid respondent panel. Typeform is the better choice when completion rates and brand matter, with Basic at $28 a month billed yearly. Jotform suits teams that also need registrations, payments and signatures, from $34 a month. Pick Microsoft Forms if you already pay for Microsoft 365, Tally for free unlimited responses, Zoho Survey for a low-cost paid plan, QuestionPro or Qualtrics for research programs, SurveySparrow for NPS and CSAT programs, and Survicate for in-product feedback in SaaS.

Quick answer

SurveyMonkey is the best survey software for teams running customer, employee and market surveys in 2026; Typeform suits teams that want polished, on-brand surveys from $28 a month billed yearly; Tally is free with unlimited forms and submissions, and the cheapest paid option we verified is Microsoft 365 Business Basic, which includes Microsoft Forms, at $7.00 per user a month.

This list is for teams that run customer satisfaction surveys, employee feedback and market research and need to choose one tool or a small set of them. We compared documented features and published prices for 10 survey tools and scored each on features, ease of use and value. Prices are the cheapest paid plan in US dollars as shown on the vendor pricing page on the date we checked; where the page showed another currency from our location, the price is marked as pending. Survey tools differ most in response limits, seat minimums and analysis depth, so compare those before the headline price. Eight tools on this list offer a permanent free plan.

    Price

Free Basic plan; paid plans shown in local currency from our location (USD check pending)

We could not confirm a US price yet. Check the SurveyMonkey pricing page.

SurveyMonkey takes first place because it handles the three jobs in this list's brief equally well. The template library lists more than 400 surveys, with ready starting points for customer satisfaction, 360-degree employee reviews, event feedback and Net Promoter Score. Team Advantage adds shared brand assets, user roles, more logic, payment collection, statistical significance, multi-survey analysis and AI thematic analysis, with 50,000 responses a year. Team Premier lifts that to 100,000 and adds white labeling, advanced logic, block randomization, multilingual surveys and crosstabs, which matter for market research. Enterprise adds SSO, user management and a choice of US, Canada or EU data center. Research teams can buy targeted respondents through SurveyMonkey Audience. The drawbacks are cost structure: team plans start at 3 seats, responses beyond the plan cap are billed one by one, and the pricing page showed local currency rather than USD from our location, so the dollar price is pending.

    Strengths

    • +Covers every common survey use case with ready templates
    • +Free Basic plan for trying the editor and sending a first survey
    • +Analyst seats let colleagues view and analyze results without full access

    Drawbacks

    • −Team plans require at least 3 users
    • −Paid plans count responses against an annual cap and charge for each extra response
    • −Audience panel responses cost extra on top of the plan

    Price

Free Starter plan; Bronze from $34 per month billed annually

Quoted from the Jotform pricing page on November 5, 2026: Bronze $ 34 /month Billed annually

Jotform places third because it is the most flexible general form tool here, and surveys are only one of the jobs it covers. The free Starter plan includes all standard features with 5 forms and 100 monthly submissions, which is enough for a small feedback program. Bronze at $34 a month billed annually raises the limits to 25 forms and 1,000 submissions, Silver to 50 forms and 2,500 submissions, and Gold to 100 forms and 10,000 submissions with HIPAA-enabled features. Every plan includes payment submissions and signed documents up to a monthly limit, so the same account can run an event registration and its follow-up survey. Nonprofits and schools get 50 percent off the Bronze, Silver and Gold plans. The limits are the trade-off: plans below Enterprise allow one user, there is no paid-plan trial, and survey analysis is lighter than in survey specialists such as SurveyMonkey or QuestionPro.

    Strengths

    • +Covers surveys and operational forms, payments and signatures in one account
    • +50 percent discount on Bronze, Silver and Gold for nonprofits and education
    • +30-day money back guarantee on paid plans

    Drawbacks

    • −Paid plans below Enterprise are single-user
    • −No free trial of paid plans, only the free Starter plan
    • −Free forms carry Jotform branding

    Typeform

A form and survey builder known for one-question-at-a-time conversational design, with AI form creation and analysis.

    Price

Free plan; Basic from $28 per month billed yearly ($39 monthly) with 100 responses a month

Quoted from the Typeform pricing page on November 5, 2026: 39 USD / mo 468 USD total / yr 28 USD / mo

Typeform ranks second because its survey experience is the most polished on this list and its prices are published in USD. Forms show one question at a time, which suits customer feedback and lead surveys where completion matters. Basic costs $28 a month billed yearly, or $39 monthly, and includes unlimited typeforms, AI form creation, conditional logic, webhooks and integrations, but only 100 responses a month and one user. Plus at $56 a month on yearly billing raises that to 1,000 responses and 3 users and removes Typeform branding. Business at $91 adds drop-off rates, conversion tracking and priority support with 10,000 responses. Enterprise adds SSO, HIPAA support and a choice of US or EU data center. The new Research Flow covers participant recruitment, transcription and AI analysis inside Typeform. The catch is that response caps are low on the entry plans, so a team running large employee or market surveys may outgrow Basic quickly.

    Strengths

    • +Conversational layout keeps respondents moving one question at a time
    • +Free plan to try the builder before paying
    • +Clear USD prices for monthly and yearly billing

    Drawbacks

    • −Basic includes only 100 responses a month and 1 user
    • −Typeform branding stays until the Plus plan
    • −Multi-language forms and the Salesforce integration sit on the higher Growth Flow plan

  4. No. 4

    Microsoft Forms

Microsoft's survey, poll and quiz app, included in Microsoft 365 business plans and built for use alongside Excel and Teams.

    Price

Included in Microsoft 365 Business Basic from $7.00 per user per month paid yearly ($8.40 monthly)

Quoted from the Microsoft Forms pricing page on November 5, 2026: Microsoft 365 Business Basic $7.00 user/month, paid yearly

Microsoft Forms ranks fourth on ease of use and value rather than depth. Microsoft lists Forms among the apps in every Microsoft 365 business plan, and describes it as a way to collect customer feedback and measure employee satisfaction. Business Basic costs $7.00 per user a month paid yearly, or $8.40 on monthly billing, and also includes web Office apps, business email, 1 TB of storage and Teams, so many companies already own Forms without knowing it. Building a survey is quick, with design suggestions, built-in AI, branching questions, themes and multilingual support, and results appear as live charts that export to Excel. Teachers also use it for quizzes. The limits show up in research work: there is no respondent panel, no dedicated NPS or employee engagement program and less control over logic and question types than SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics. For internal pulses and simple customer forms, though, it is hard to beat on cost.

    Strengths

    • +No extra cost for teams already paying for Microsoft 365
    • +Results move straight into Excel
    • +Simple enough for anyone in the company to build a poll

    Drawbacks

    • −Fewer question types and less advanced logic than survey specialists
    • −No panel, NPS programs or advanced research analysis
    • −Bought as part of Microsoft 365 rather than as a standalone survey plan

    Price

Free plan with unlimited forms and submissions; paid plans shown in EUR from our location (USD check pending)

We could not confirm a US price yet. Check the Tally pricing page.

Tally ranks fifth because it gives away what most survey tools charge for. The free plan includes unlimited forms and submissions within its fair use guidelines, along with conditional logic, calculations, answer piping, signatures, file uploads, payments, password protection and 45+ languages with right-to-left support. It connects to Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier, Make and webhooks without an upgrade. Pro removes Tally branding and adds custom domains, unlimited team members in shared workspaces, partial submissions, custom CSS, drop-off analytics and 30 days of version history. Business adds data retention controls, email verification and 90 days of version history. Tally is a Belgium-based company that stores form data in Europe. The trade-off is analysis: there are no crosstabs, panels or engagement programs, so results usually go to a spreadsheet. Its pricing page showed EUR from our location, so the USD price is pending.

    Strengths

    • +The most generous free plan on this list
    • +Advanced features such as logic and file uploads are not paywalled
    • +Form data is stored in Europe, which helps GDPR reviews

    Drawbacks

    • −Light on survey-specific analysis such as crosstabs or significance testing
    • −Branding removal needs the Pro plan

    Price

Free plan; paid plans shown in EUR from our location (USD check pending)

We could not confirm a US price yet. Check the Zoho Survey pricing page.

Zoho Survey earns sixth place on value. Every plan, including Free, allows unlimited surveys, and the free tier gives 10 questions and 100 responses per survey, which is enough to test a customer feedback form. Paid plans run from Basic through Plus, Pro and Enterprise, lifting the question limit and raising response limits per survey, with unlimited annual responses from Plus upward. Zoho lists more than 250 templates in 10 categories, survey translation, HIPAA and GDPR compliance and a builder available in 26 languages. Students get Plus free and educators get 50 percent off, and nonprofits can ask for a discount. A 7-day Enterprise trial needs no credit card. The tool makes most sense for teams already using other Zoho apps, though it lacks the research depth of Qualtrics or QuestionPro. The pricing page showed EUR from our location, so we have not confirmed a USD price.

    Strengths

    • +Low entry price among paid survey plans
    • +Free Plus plan for students and 50 percent off for educators
    • +Fits teams already on other Zoho apps

    Drawbacks

    • −Free plan limits surveys to 10 questions and 100 responses
    • −Lower plans cap responses per survey each month
    • −Pricing shows in EUR from our location, so the USD price is pending

    Price

Free Essentials plan; Advanced from $99 per user per month billed annually; 10-day trial

Quoted from the QuestionPro pricing page on November 5, 2026: Advanced Complete survey solution designed for business $99 Per user/month, billed annually

QuestionPro ranks seventh overall but would rank higher for pure market research. Its free Essentials plan includes one user, 200 responses per survey, 30 question types and 24/7 chat and email support. Advanced costs $99 per user a month billed annually, with a 10-day free trial, 25,000 responses a year and 38 question types. Team Edition is priced at $83 per user a month billed annually for 5 or more users, with 100,000 responses per survey, 46 question types, regional data centers and a dedicated account manager. Research Suite, for 10 or more users, adds communities, audience and qualitative tools with custom response pricing. That range lets a research team start small and grow without switching platforms. The drawbacks are price and complexity: one Advanced seat costs far more than Typeform Basic or Microsoft 365, and the broader platform takes longer to learn than simpler tools.

    Strengths

    • +High response limits for the price on Advanced and Team Edition
    • +The deepest question-type list among self-serve plans here
    • +Clear upgrade path into market research tools

    Drawbacks

    • −The Advanced plan is expensive for a single user
    • −Team Edition requires at least 5 users and a sales contact

    Price

Forever free plan; paid plans shown in EUR from our location (USD check pending); 14-day trial

We could not confirm a US price yet. Check the SurveySparrow pricing page.

SurveySparrow ranks eighth. Its forever free plan covers 75 responses per quarter, 3 active surveys and 10 questions per survey. Paid survey plans run Basic, Starter, Business and Enterprise, with 2,500, 15,000 and 36,000 responses a year on the first three. Basic includes email distribution, partial responses, display and skip logic and a Slack integration. Starter adds surveys embedded in email, survey translation, redirects and HubSpot, while Business adds custom branding, advanced question types, workflows, webhooks, respondent location tracking, 3 users and chat support. Beyond surveys, the company sells a CX Suite for NPS, CSAT and CES, a reviews product, research tools and 360 assessments, which suits teams that want customer and employee programs from one vendor. The downsides are seat limits on the lower plans, extra users priced on top, and pricing that showed in EUR from our location, so the USD price is pending.

    Strengths

    • +Dedicated products for customer experience and 360 employee reviews
    • +Free plan and a 14-day trial of paid features
    • +Startup and education programs

    Drawbacks

    • −Only the Business plan includes more than 1 user

    Price

Free account; paid plans by quote (request pricing)

We could not confirm a US price yet. Check the Qualtrics pricing page.

Qualtrics has the deepest feature set on this list but ranks ninth because ease of use and value pull it down for most teams. The platform splits into customer experience, employee experience and market research. CX products range from a foundational starter program to digital, contact center and location-based offerings priced on interactions. Employee products cover engagement, pulse surveys, onboarding and exit, candidate experience and 360 development, priced by employee count. Research products add AI follow-up prompts, video feedback analyzed at scale and a hub for strategic research. A free account allows 500 responses, 8 question types, 3 active surveys with up to 30 questions each and skip, display and branch logic, and students can check whether their university already holds a full license. Paid plans are by quote only, so we cannot compare prices, and the platform asks for more setup than SurveyMonkey or Typeform. It is best for organizations with an insights team to run it.

    Strengths

    • +The broadest platform here for CX, employee and research programs
    • +Free account with skip, display and branch logic
    • +Students can check whether their university already holds a full license

    Drawbacks

    • −No published prices for paid plans

Growth from $114 per month billed annually; 10-day trial without a card

Quoted from the Survicate pricing page on November 5, 2026: Growth starts at $114 /mo Billed annually

Survicate closes the list as a specialist for customer feedback in software products. Growth starts at $114 a month billed annually and includes unlimited multichannel surveys, built-in email sending, the Research Hub, an AI Agent with MCP access, 25+ integrations, multilingual surveys, custom branding and 10 user seats across 2 teams, with 250 survey responses a month. Surveys can target users by attributes and events, and results can be filtered by CRM and marketing automation attributes, which makes it useful for in-product and post-onboarding feedback. Pro starts at $349 a month with custom response pools, advanced logic, CSS branding and 40+ integrations, and Enterprise starts at $569. A 10-day trial covers all features with up to 25 responses and no card. It ranks last here because it is narrower than the general survey tools: it is not designed for employee engagement or panel-based market research, and the response allowance on Growth is small for the price.

    Strengths

    • +Surveys target users by attributes and in-product events
    • +10 user seats included on Growth
    • +10-day trial of all features with no card required

    Drawbacks

    • −Growth includes only 250 survey responses a month

What to check before you buy

Match the tool to the survey type

Customer feedback needs NPS and CSAT templates and CRM links, employee surveys need anonymity, pulses and manager reporting, and market research needs panels, randomization and crosstabs. SurveyMonkey and Qualtrics cover all three, Survicate focuses on customer feedback, and QuestionPro leans toward research.

Check response limits before the price

Entry plans often cap responses. Typeform Basic includes 100 responses a month, Survicate Growth 250 a month, and SurveyMonkey Team Advantage 50,000 a year with a fee for each extra response. Tally allows unlimited submissions on its free plan within fair use.

Count seats and minimums

Many plans are single-user. Jotform plans below Enterprise allow 1 user, SurveyMonkey team plans start at 3 users, QuestionPro Team Edition needs 5 or more, and Survicate Growth includes 10 seats.

Look at analysis depth

Simple tools show charts and export to a spreadsheet, as Microsoft Forms does with Excel. Research work needs more: SurveyMonkey Team Premier adds crosstabs and block randomization, and Qualtrics and QuestionPro offer research suites with qualitative tools.

Confirm compliance and data location

Jotform Gold and Zoho Survey list HIPAA features, Typeform Enterprise offers a US or EU data center, SurveyMonkey Enterprise offers US, Canada or EU data centers, and Tally stores form data in Europe.
